We are Mesa Rentals and Design (DBA Mesa Events), a Victoria BC based company providing styling services and rentals for tabletop decor. Our website address is: http://mesarentals.co.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Your name, e-mail, event info and purchase information (desired rentals) are obtained through our contact/quote forms. This information is collected for communication purposes and to assist you with your event rental and design planning. Information is also collected when a comment is left. By commenting/filling out these forms, you are consenting to provide this data. (More info below)
While you visit our site, we’ll also track:
- Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed. We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site.
When you book with us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, and possibly credit card/payment details. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:
- Send you information about your account and order
- Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
- Process payments and prevent fraud
- Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
- Improve our rental and design offerings
- Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them
We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses.
We will also store comments or reviews, if you choose to leave them.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Contact forms
Information submitted on the quote/contact form is kept for the duration of our interaction and up to one year after your event date. This information is obtained and kept for customer service purposes and are in no way used or submitted for marketing purposes by ourselves or a third party.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Payments
We accept payments through EMT and SquarePayPal. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to Square, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information. Please see the Square Privacy Policy for more details.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Any additional information obtained outside the website via phone, e-mail or in person falls under the same data protection procedures outlined above.

Our website uses an SSL certificate (https url) to provide ultimate security. All communications between your browser and our website are encrypted.
